Very nice app

Easy to use

Ads? Come-on! Not free anymore.

I dont mind ads when apps are free BUT this one is not! Dont force me to look at ads if youre taking my money. Does well what takes you at least 60 seconds to do on paper and you dont have to carry the info around. I was hoping for the Bili level to be plotted against the nomogram. Oh well.

Pretty good- useful in Peds

I find this app to be accurate and useful in pediatric practice. I have 2 suggestions: 1) Plot the bilirubin level on the bilirubin nomogram. (If you could figure out a way to plot more than 1 point, that would be awesome) 2) When you select the option to enter the birth date/time and then the collection date/time, it would be nice if the app showed how many hours that represents. (in single hour increments). I like to be able to report the Bili level and the babys age in hours to my colleagues, & this feature would save me a lot of time!

Great app, but...

Very useful app for docs and nurses; tells you what risk category the jaundiced baby in your nursery is. But would really be improved by showing how many hours since birth the lab time represents and by graphing it on the appropriate nomogram.

nifty

great app!! super handy for on the wards, and love the new graph option! :)

Details need work

Graph is backwards, higher bili level means lower risk? Instability is misspelled, other than that I hope the data is input correctly. Lack of details decrease confidence.

Essential Pediatric App

This app is super useful for the newborn nursery. I use it daily. I always have my phone with me but now I dont need to remember to carry around a graph. I think the previous reviewer is confused by the graph. The low, medium, and high risk lines on the graph refer to the "neurotoxicity" risk. Thus a "high neurotoxicity" risk baby will need light therapy at a lower bilirubin level than a "low neurotoxicity" risk baby. This is exactly how the Bhutani phototherapy nomogram looks like.

Great app

Incredibly easy to use with a great interface. Graphs correct and consistent with AAP recommendations. Essential app for newborn medicine!

Great!!

I used it every day on my nursery rotation. Thank you!

Love the app but...

Would love it even more if it included nomograms for *transcutaneous* measurements as well!

Very Useful

Bilicalc is easy to use and very useful for any general pediatrician.

MUST HAVE for any Pediatrician, Pediatric Resident or Med Student

Incredibly useful; simple and easy to use, this app pretty much does it all with regards to calculations for Bilirubin levels. The most helpful element is the Nomogram with live plotting; in the past I would have to use the paper nomograms, this app does all the hard work for me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone who spend times with infants in the nursery, NICU, or pediatrician for early newborn followup.

Best $ spent

Best $2 Ive spent in a long time. Great job.

Simple and Helpful

Easy to use. Very simple design gets you the info you need fast.

Inaccuracies

In comparing this app to BiliTool.org I noticed some differences that are minute but still different. Specifically if you put a bili level of 15.5 at 109 hours you get LIR. Bilitool.org says this is HIR. I know the sources are different but its hard to trust an app made by one person in the medical field especially when peer review is difficult to perform.

Great app for pediatricians/future pediatricians

Well-designed, easy to use, and evidence-based. You can input values by patient age or by birth time/lab time to save you some math when your brain is fried on night float. I dont have the neurotoxicity risk factors memorized yet so its nice that theyre easy to get to. When compared to BiliTool.org some of the recommendations may differ when the patient is right on the risk stratification line, but as attendings like to say, theres no substitute for training and clinical judgment.

Dr GK

Very user friendly, I especially like that you can swipe and see the graphical representation as well. Ill definitely use this as a wards reference.

Wonderful!

Keeps time in newborn nursery and clinic at a minimum. So easy to use!

DO NOT USE! Graphs wrong when on phone call.

If you use this app while you are talking on the phone on iPhone 5, it places the crosshair on the wrong spot on the graph making to bili look lower risk than it really is. Even after you hang up and enter other Billy Rubin levels, the error in placement process unless you close out the app from your memory. Most of the time that I need to look up nomogram, it is on the phone when I am on call, when a nurse or parent calls me with a bili. Therefore this app is useless to me, and can lead to bad decisions. The developer of this app has been unable to fix this in the last six months.
